Hungry For Haiti

This weekend, the youth of Timberlake Church are going hungry, real hungry. For the first time in recent history, maybe for the first time ever a youth ministry is doing a 100% food free event. No donuts, no chips, no hot wings, no sushi, and not even any Mt. Dew. This weekend, for 24 hours Jr. High and High School students from Timberlake Church are going Hungry for Haiti. With the recent disaster in Haiti, the tragedy for the country and the world continues to increase. With 230,000 people confirmed dead, and hundreds of thousands more homeless, orphaned, injured, or displaced this truly is world tragedy that could not go unnoticed.

Recently, we gave our students the opportunity to respond to this crisis, and we've had almost sixty students decide to take part in this event. The really exciting thing is, that taking part entails a 24-hour fast, something that requires self-sacrifice, and a conscious decision to help others at the expense of their own comfort. Students at Timberlake are truly taking steps toward Christ as they learn to serve world.
